“Touching Dreams”

April 12, 2019 by phicks2012

Dreams are rather like celestial bodies. Some remain brilliant and beautiful, but out of reach. Some come to earth, but burn up on entering the atmosphere. Some impact the ground and cause unforeseen damage. The ones that come true probably do so because we go to them rather than waiting for them to come to us.

Touching Dreams

In sleep we wander far beyond the world
To those unlikely realms where dreams are born;
Where legends gather banners waft, unfurled
Upon a wind where silken clouds are worn.
There in our slumbers we may upward soar,
To chase a sunset o’er a golden land,
And travel to an opalescent shore
Where only those who dream may hope to stand.
In wonder we may wear a silken gown
Or raise a silvered sword in triumph high,
Or hope to wear a legendary Crown,
And all the trials of willful fate defy.
In shadow we may roam; in sunlight wake
To find that life is richer than it seems,
If we can but a dreamer’s journey take
And then, awakened, go on touching dreams.

Recently I found your blog. I enjoy your poetry and hope to learn from your creativity. Mine seems to be on a lengthy hiatus so I envy you.
