The verse below is not great or epic poetry. It’s simply a verse, hastily written to use in my SCA Shire’s monthly newsletter “The Equinox”. It does, however, try to make a point. 😉
In friendship stand beside me when I stand,
And offer strength to aid me when I fall.
When needing succor, or a guiding hand,
Let your name be the first my heart may call.
If I am saddened bring to me a smile,
And offer laughter when soul is lorn.
Advise me when I falter for a while,
And tender comfort when my heart is torn.
If I am sickened, ailing, wish me well
And in my time of weakness offer strength,
That of our time I will have tales to tell
And years to measure loyal friendship’s length.
When I am lonely leave me not alone,
Nor yet desert me if I have not fame.
And when in turn you let a need be known
Then know, in friendship, I will do the same.
