In my office (and also in m bedroom) and have identical twin “Recliners of Swallowing”. These magical items were bought at the same time, and the terms “encompassing”, and “cradling” come immediately to mind when describing them. They are blessedly cloud-soft, and once I settle in I feel as though I am surrounded by comfort and security. If I add a super-soft lap throw, and a pillow, the sensation is further enhanced. I lean back, and sigh, and feel the tension and stress drain away to some other realm, leaving me utterly relaxed and (as long as nothing else is stressing me out) contented.
So this is an ode to my recliner. LOL
Earthbound, yet floating in a cloud-embrace,
Away from time and tension hovering,
With dreamlike softness pressed against my face,
And flaws and imperfections covering,
I rest contented, out of time and space,
Where only happenstance my acts are governing,
And slumber in felicity and grace,
A miracle of peace discovering.
As in the cradle of my tender youth,
I lie without regrets encumbering,
By dreaming pillowed, neither wrath nor ruth
Are due to me, and joys outnumbering
All of my woes there coalesce. In soothing
Quietude, through dream-time tumbling.
Where dreams may wear the habiliments of truth
I am content as I lie slumbering.

Yeah, yeah! I know it doesn’t actually “mention” my recliner, but hopefully you get the point, right? “Total relaxation”. 😉
I’ll be publishing this in the Mat 2019 Issue of our monthly SCA Newsletter “The Equinox” as well. It’s not really an SCA topic, but I’m not proud. 😉
